The Sahel Alliance was launched in July 2017.The Sahel Alliance intends to help Sahelian countries to restore the foundations of stable societies, so as to lead to sustainable development and long-lasting peace in the Sahel.

In January 2019, the Alliance announced the enactment of these goals through the implementation of over 730 projects to launch by 2022, with global funding amounting to €11 billion.
